Integrated temperature‑control and tempering operation low‑damage drying equipment for large‑batch grains

 Product Introduction

The 5HSN Series Continuous Mixed-Flow Grain Dryer Tower is an industrial-scale continuous mixed-flow drying system developed by Zhengzhou Wangu Machinery for large grain depots, grain processing enterprises, agricultural cooperatives and large-scale farms. Designed for continuous drying of newly harvested high-moisture grain, it handles paddy rice, corn, wheat, soybean, sorghum, rapeseed and various crop seeds. Dried grain features stable moisture and intact kernels, meeting the requirements of long-term storage and downstream processing.

The machine adopts a vertical tower structure integrating 4 drying sections, 4 tempering sections and 2 cooling sections, coordinated by an intelligent control system. It applies a mixed-flow low-temperature thin-layer drying process — hot air passes through staggered angle ducts and penetrates the thin grain bed in concurrent, counter and cross flow patterns, ensuring uniform air distribution and thorough heat exchange. This prevents rapid surface crusting and blocked inner moisture migration, greatly reducing grain fissuring and breakage. Suitable for both commodity grain and seed grain drying.

Grain is lifted by the bucket elevator to the tower top, automatically distributed via level-sensor interlocking, then flows downward through drying, tempering and cooling sections by gravity while hot air contacts the grain bed in multiple directions to remove moisture. With real-time online moisture monitoring, the tower automatically adjusts hot air temperature and variable-frequency discharge speed once the target moisture is reached, ensuring continuous and stable output. The machine runs 24 hours continuously with wind-and-rain-proof outdoor design. Compared with conventional simple dryers, this model delivers higher throughput, better drying quality, lower energy consumption and a higher level of automation.

Drying Process

This machine applies a mixed-flow (concurrent + counter + cross flow) drying process. Staggered angle ducts inside the tower direct hot air through the thin grain bed alternately in concurrent, cross and counter flow directions: the concurrent zones use a larger temperature difference for rapid heating and surface moisture removal; the cross-flow zones extend the air-to-kernel contact path for thorough heat exchange; the counter-flow zones complete deep drying with a small temperature difference. A tempering section between each drying section allows internal moisture to migrate naturally toward equilibrium, eliminating excessive moisture gradients. Finally, the cooling sections bring discharge grain temperature to no more than 8°C above ambient, ready for direct storage. The multi-stage process — mixed-flow drying, tempering, cooling — features low temperature and thin layers throughout, with no thermal shock, no over-drying and no caking, fully preserving grain vitality.

 Structural Components

1,Punch-formed high-strength steel; tower body and hot-air ducts wrapped with 50mm insulation cotton; wind-and-rain-proof outdoor design; open-air installation without a building.

Staggered angle ducts in each drying section; hot air penetrates the grain bed in concurrent, counter and cross flows with uniform, dead-zone-free distribution.

2,Lifts ground-level wet grain to the tower top; level-sensor interlocking enables continuous automatic feeding.

3,Spreads incoming grain evenly inside the tower, preventing localized accumulation.

4,Core mixed-flow heat-exchange zones where hot air penetrates the thin grain bed in multiple directions for rapid heating and dehydration.

5,Grain moisture equalizes here, eliminating excessive internal moisture gradients.

6,Ambient air cools the grain counter-currently; discharge temperature ≤ ambient +8°C, ready for direct storage.

7,Variable-frequency six-blade paddle discharge with adjustable speed, precisely controlling drying time and final moisture.

8,Optional biomass, coal, natural gas and electricity; flexibly configured to local conditions.

9,Automated control; drying, elevating, discharging and cooling run interlocked, with online moisture monitoring and closed-loop adjustment.

Description

Large Capacity

Daily capacity 100–800 t, customizable up to 1,000 t, with 24-hour continuous operation for large-scale centralized grain processing.

Mixed-Flow Quality Care

Low-temperature thin-layer mixed-flow drying: hot air 45–80°C, grain temperature ≤55°C, fissuring increase ≤3%, germ vitality fully preserved.

Uniform Drying

Staggered angle ducts distribute air in multiple directions; every kernel is evenly heated with drying non-uniformity ≤1.5%.

Multi-Heat-Source Flexibility

Biomass, coal, natural gas and electricity supported; selection can follow local energy prices to cut operating cost.

All-Weather Outdoor Use

50mm insulation plus wind-and-rain-proof design allows open-air installation without buildings, reducing civil works investment.

Energy Saving & Eco-Friendly

Specific heat consumption 5,000–7,000 kJ/kgH₂O; insulated structure minimizes heat loss, outperforming conventional dryers per kg of evaporated water.

 Main Features

1,Mixed-flow low-temperature thin-layer drying: 45–80°C hot air, thin grain beds and alternating concurrent/counter/cross airflow avoid thermal shock; four ample tempering zones allow full internal moisture migration, markedly reducing fissuring, breakage and cracking risk.
2,Uniform and stable drying: staggered angle-duct multi-directional air distribution leaves no dead zones; excellent batch moisture consistency with drying non-uniformity ≤1.5%.
3,Intelligent automation: level-sensor interlocking for automatic feed and discharge; online moisture monitoring automatically adjusts air temperature and discharge speed once target moisture is reached — one-touch continuous drying and 24-hour unattended operation.
4,Multi-fuel compatibility: biomass or coal hot-air furnaces as standard, optional gas heat exchangers or electric heating — local conditions decide the lowest operating cost.
5,Industrial-grade robust construction: punch-formed high-strength steel tower with 50mm insulation on body and hot-air ducts; wind-and-rain-proof outdoor design withstands long harvest-season full-load operation.
6,Strong site adaptability: open-air installation without building construction saves infrastructure investment; multiple model sizes fit scenarios from medium depots to large commercial grain depots.
7,Easy maintenance: the variable-frequency six-blade discharge is simple and reliable with convenient servicing; quick changeover between grain varieties minimizes cross-contamination.
