Eliminate Pollution at Source to Empower Low‑Carbon Post‑Harvest Processing

Grain drying is one of the links with the highest energy consumption and the most sensitive emissions in the post-harvest processing chain. No matter how high the combustion efficiency of traditional hot-blast furnaces fuelled by coal, oil or natural gas, one reality is unavoidable: combustion inevitably generates pollutants such as smoke and dust, sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxides. Against the backdrop of increasingly stringent environmental regulations, whether drying equipment performs cleanly has evolved from an “optional choice” into a “must-meet requirement” that determines whether a project can be implemented and run sustainably in the long term. Zhengzhou Wangu Machinery Co., Ltd. has launched the WGH Series Continuous Heat-Pump Drying Tower, which uses air-source heat pumps as its core heat source. By starting from the fundamental link of the heat source, it enables large-scale grain drying to truly say goodbye to open flames and emissions.

1. Eliminate “Combustion” at the Source

Environmental protection cannot rely on after-treatment measures such as dust removal and desulphurization to “remedy” the problem; instead, pollution should not be generated at the source in the first place. The WGH Series Continuous Heat-Pump Drying Tower completely eliminates the combustion process. Driven by electricity, it operates air-source heat-pump units that extract low-grade thermal energy from ambient air, upgrade it through compression, and convert it into the clean hot air required for drying. The complete machine has no furnace chamber, no chimney, and no fuel storage or transport, and it produces no combustion exhaust gas or residues.

Precisely because it does not burn, the equipment’s emissions inventory is almost zero: no smoke and dust, no sulphur dioxide, no nitrogen oxides, and no waste residues. The dust collectors, desulphurization towers and flue-gas monitoring systems required for traditional hot-blast furnaces are no longer needed here. For users, this means simpler environmental impact assessment (EIA) application and easier acceptance. Project site selection no longer has to compromise on emission indicators, and equipment can be confidently deployed in grain depots, industrial parks and even environmentally sensitive areas.

2. Full-Process Green Technology

Environmental friendliness extends far beyond the heat source and runs through the entire drying process. The WGH Series Continuous Heat-Pump Drying Tower adopts a multi-stage drying–tempering–cooling continuous process: grain enters from the top and, under gravity, flows downward continuously, passing through several drying sections in sequence. The clean low-temperature hot air produced by the heat pump penetrates the grain layer obliquely, gently removing moisture layer by layer. After each drying stage, grain enters the tempering section to rest, allowing moisture to fully migrate and equilibrate inside the grain kernels. Finally, grain enters the cooling section, where it exchanges heat with clean ambient air to bring the grain temperature down to near the ambient temperature.

The heat-pump hot-air temperature can be intelligently set according to the grain variety and the inlet moisture content. Multi-layer low-temperature steady drying avoids shell cracking and kernel fracture caused by thermal shock. An on-line moisture monitoring system continuously detects the discharge moisture content and automatically fine-tunes the discharge speed and heat-pump operating parameters to lock in the target moisture content. The entire process runs continuously and stably without shutdown. Throughout the whole process there are no open flames, no flue gas and no dust contamination. Grain is dried in a clean hot-air environment, eliminating secondary pollution that combustion by-products might cause. After drying, grain requires no additional sun-drying and can be bagged and stored directly.

3. Comprehensive Value Brought by Environmental Protection

Choosing a zero-emission drying unit yields far more than mere “compliance” itself.

Environmental compliance means one less risk. With no combustion emissions, pollutant indicators are naturally zero, removing the need for investment in complex treatment facilities and day-to-day operation and maintenance. Project approval and environmental inspections no longer become operating burdens.

Flexible site selection means greater ease. With no open flames and no flue gas, the unit can be deployed flexibly, unrestricted by the surrounding environment or emission red lines, leaving more room for grain-depot site selection and expansion.

A green image earns more trust. Replacing fuel with electricity for clean drying aligns with the development direction of green grain storage and low-carbon agriculture. It helps enterprises build a green brand image and responds to society’s simple expectation of grain security.

4. Safeguards for Environmental-Friendly Implementation

Built upon the fundamental WGH tower type, the WGH Series Continuous Heat-Pump Drying Tower features a robust tower structure, uniform air distribution and stable drying quality. The equipment is equipped with a thickened anti-corrosion tower body with an insulation layer, able to withstand wind and rain and suitable for long-term outdoor use. Paired with bucket elevators, scraper conveyors and air-source heat-pump units, it achieves fully automatic continuous grain flow from the top inlet to the bottom outlet. The equipment can stably process bulk grains such as rice, wheat, corn, soybeans and sorghum, and is applicable to both commercial grain and seed grain.

5. Packaging and Quality Guarantee

The equipment is shipped in bare form with reinforced protection. Motors, electrical control components, sensing elements and heat-pump electrical control modules are individually packed with moisture-proof, shock-proof and collision-proof treatment, suitable for long-distance road transport. Products are manufactured in strict accordance with the ISO quality-management system. Before leaving the factory, each unit undergoes no-load commissioning, material-loading drying test and parameter calibration. The main frame, drying-tower body and transmission system carry a 12-month quality guarantee; heat-pump units are guaranteed in accordance with the original manufacturer’s standard. We also provide lifelong technical consultation, remote guidance, installation and commissioning, fault troubleshooting and long-term supply of original spare parts. Minimum order quantity: 1 unit; delivery cycle: 45–60 days.
